Restaurant Suggestions

Rich's family has suggested a number of places to eat around the Wells and York area.

See this map for addresses and directions to each place.

Wells

  • Maine Diner: Great diner food and traditional Maine dishes for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Try the she-crab soup for an appetizer! (Reviews)
  • Fisherman's Catch: Rustic restaurant serving fresh Maine seafood for lunch or dinner.
  • Merriland Farm Cafe: Hearty breakfasts, lunches and dinners, especially for a delightful change from fried seafood. It's off the beaten path, just 1.4 miles off Rt 1, in a pretty setting next to a golf course.
  • Congdon's Donuts: Best place for donuts, also serving breakfast and lunch.
  • Mike's Clam Shack Family Restaurant: Seafood, steaks, chicken, and salads for lunch or dinner.
  • Sundaes at the Beach: Homemade ice cream and make your own sundaes. Best ice cream place in the area.

York

Around and About

  • The Clam Shack: Lobster rolls with the meat of a one pound lobster. (Reviews)
  • Red's Eats: If you want to take an 1 1/2 hour ride up the coast, go to this roadside stand for a lobster roll that contains the meat of a one pound lobster. Some people say this is the best lobster roll in Maine. There can be a long wait if you go at a peak meal time.
  • Sea Basket: No frills, good old fashioned Maine seafood; exquisite lobster stew. (Reviews)
  • Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster: On a nice day, enjoy lunch under the awning at this restaurant on the wharf at the end of Main Street in South Freeport, just 3 miles from LL Bean. (Reviews)
